Calasparra Tourist Train
Calasparra now has it’s very own tourist train that will cheerful convey you the full 6kms. from the centre of town along the Rio Segura
and the rice fields to “El Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza”, (Sanctuary of Hope) for just 3€ return. Here you will discover the
Virgin of Esperanza in the small church built into the rock. (For more information please see the Calasparra Overview page.) Looking down
from it’s elevated position you will also see the lower terraces alongside the Rio Segura, with numerous barbecues which are in regular use
on most weekends throughout the year. It is also here that local Calasparanios relax and swim during hot summer months.
Train Time Schedule
From Calasparra: 11am. 12:30pm. 1:30pm. 5pm. 6:30pm.
From the Sanctuary: 11:30am. 1pm. 2pm. 5:30pm. 7:30pm.
Calasparra Cycle Rental
As a service to local people and tourists alike, the Calasparra town hall has recently provided it’s tourist office with a small fleet
of easy to ride rental mountain bikes in varying sizes. Half of this fleet can be rented from the tourist office just off the centre of town
while the other half will be situated at the gift shop adjacent the Sanctuary of Hope. Cycles may be rented on a daily basis only at 5€ per
day with a 30€ deposit. (Deposit on a family rental of 2 or more cycles will be limited to a maximum of 60€.) A passport or valid ID will
also have to be provided for photo-copying. Each cycle must be returned to the place where it was rented at least 15 minutes before that
office closes for the day, and in good condition, or the deposit will be forfeited.
