Calasparra is a traditional town situated about 45kms north-west of Murcia and is aptly known as the "Jewel” of the region due to the stunning landscapes and lush green fields and variety of colours surrounding the countryside. Wending it’s way through Calasparra, the Rio Segura is a favourite with locals for fishing and swimming, as the water is so very clear. Along the river, white water rafting can be enjoyed through both rapids and calmer waters. If you are more adventurous there is so much to do here including Quad bike and horse-riding, paint balling, mountain climbing, cycling, fishing, shooting, country walks & beautiful ancient caves with stalactites, stalagmites and cave drawings. The town centre is modern, and becoming more so by the day. With a lovely plaza, fountain and impressive lights dotted around making it proves an extremely pretty place to sit and enjoy tapas and drinks of an evening. Children play total safely in the streets while parents watch them from outside their local bar, or take advantage of the communal benches situated under the trees throughout the square and main thoroughfare known locally as Gran Via.
